Professional Features, etc...

First off, THANK YOU ALL!, for making such a dynamic and innovative toolbox. This is a dream come true for a designer that can't wrap his mind around all of the Flash/Java/AJAX/RUBY needed to create his vision. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I have a few questions:

Will there be a "Paid For" or Upgraded version release for professional/commercial designers?

Assuming there is a commercial version...

Will we have access to the .fla/Source for our own hosting? I am a little concerned that Sprouts I create, might disappear at a later time if anything happens to the company, I'm not being negative, just realistic. I have been involved with several start-ups in the past and got burned when they shut down.

Will there be the option of transferring ownership of Sprouts to other users? For example, If I create a Sprout for a Client and want to be able to transfer ownership and any possible related hosting fees to that Clients own Sprout account.

Will Sprout's Business Model have any focus around User Generated Sprouts for sale? A "Sprout Marketplace" if you will. Where a prospective client can pay a flat rate/monthly fee for access to a Sprout, with Sprout handling the billing/administrative duties and splitting the fee with the designer.

I look forward to adding Sprout to my design armory and using Sprout on a very regular basis. Thank you for your time.

Hello Steve,

Thank you for signing up for Sprout's Private Beta launch and your feedback.

> Will there be a "Paid For" or Upgraded version release for professional/commercial designers?

Yes we will have a paid for service in future versions.

> Will we have access to the .fla/Source for our own hosting? I am a little concerned that Sprouts I create, might disappear at a later time if anything happens to the company..

We have discussed this but it is still in debate as to whether or not we will allow saving the full swf files. We understand your concerns about the longevity of Sprout. We are doing everything in our power to make Sprout a success so that your sprouts will grow into sturdy old trees. In fact, we will be releasing an SDK (software development kit) so that other software developers and businesses can be involved in the growth of sprout. Having 3rd party developers create their own sprout components will surely help make Sprout a industry recognized name.

Thank you for this suggestion. We'll add it to our list. Alternatively, we have discussed allowing you to create and share templates. That feature, if we were to implement it would be furhter down the road, but it could fit into the situation you described.

Another great idea, we'll add this to our requested features list as well. I will also forward this to our Business Development department.

- This is exactly what I wanted to suggest. This is must for anyome who would pay for professional account ( like myself ), because its only way for a client to update sprout without one who designed it.

And I would vote for giving .swf files to pro account owners too. My main concern is not company and its future, because this is so good service that you should become some hard junkees :) to ruin it, but I am sure some of the clients would love to host their files on their own, especially some bigger ones

This is exactly what I am looking for as well. I am more than happy to design/create a sprout for friends, family, and yes, paid clients. I would then want to transfer it to their account where it can be maintained. I am more than willing to become a paying member for this service.

Thanks Sprout for making web design a breeze!

Yeah imagine making money on the side as a sprout builder. Great idea.

Interesting regarding the fla source. The PC's I use at work (we have 3500 or so) will not run theses sprouts...
1. The player version we have is 6, the PC's are locked down and carefully profiled so users are unable to update anything. In a health environment we do have to be extremely careful before changing anythiing, past experience has shown that very bad things can happen!!
2. We have from our network fairly open gateways to national systems. Anything that starts pulling or pushing data across domains that aren't mapped and cleared as safe get their requests shut down instantly.
I's love to use some sprouts in this environment but the inability to host the fla within our own servers and the lack of a tool to depracate the fla version means that they are complete non starter.
This holds pretty true for the other hospital groups within my area, thats about 1/3rd of the UK NHS hospital sites. Our security is getting tighter as we roll in more access to things like national record systems.
Looks like I'll be sticking with wavemaker, at last anything I create I contol fully, deploy the files where ever I need them to be and version content precisely to fit.
