Multiple choice interactive video!

So we took a section of our "Basic Engine Building" DVD, and made it a Sprout. Complete with the running menu and Tools and Glossary terms.

This is a three-part interactive video. In the first section you will be prompted to make a choice, during which the text will be active rollovers to take you to the appropriate clip. During either choice, your attention will be called to the top running menu, for additional click-out pages. Both choices lead to the same final clip to learn about the procedure. Two more click-outs will appear in the running menu at different points. After which you can quickly resume to the section of the video you were watching, from the top menu rollover. At any point the top right "Menu" rollover will return you to the first choice point.

Took a lot of work but this is THE closest to DVD interactivity possible on the web since you can do rollovers! It's 12 pages in all.

Hope you enjoy!

WOW, that's what this sprout is. The interactivity with the video is really awesome. I had another person looking at this with me and we were both WOW at how great this is. This is a really fun and interesting sprout. Awesome job!

Thanks Tom,

I'm sure most people just see video being called into a sprout and don't notice or bother continuing with what it's meant to do. Glad you took the time to understand and appreciate what we were trying to accomplish.

Heres a little more background into why we did this and why. Like I mentioned above, as of now this is the only way to accomplish this without being a hardcore flash coder which we are not. And it's still quite complex for the average user.

You guys did and awesome Job. You don't need to be hardcore Flash editors that is what is great about Sprout. You guys have some great video editors though and this is nice, clean and functional.

Thanks Adam,
All I did was rehash the original edits (which I didn't do) into a new FCP project with a new 16:9 running menu from After Effects specific for the sprout. To be honest it was the first project I did in Final Cut, and my learning curve. I have plans for at least 2 new sprouts and will post them when I have time to make them.

I think it would be awesome if sprout designers could share their entire projects with each other (being able to see all the pages and what attributes they added) without it affecting the original published content. Maybe even be able to edit them offline somehow??
My point being this could make it a lot more 'open sourced' and help people learn easier.

Ryan,

Great points. I have an interview next week with a large brand that is cautious about where they fit in to the social media space. I plan on showing them your Sprout as an example of how you have personified your product and service into a real utility.

Sounds cool Adam,

Let me know what they thought and how it went.

Best of luck!

Ryan
